Deadlines for running for Gaithersburg two open city council seats this November are approaching.
City Councilor Laurie-Anne Sayles is going to run for a seat on the Montgomery County Council after 4 years on the Gaithersburg City Council. Veteran City Councilor Michael Sesma is retiring after having served the city of Gaithersburg for 16 years.
Incumbent Mayor Jud Ashman is running for reelection.
The city has posted a schedule for what needs to happen to run for one of these open seats, or to challenge Mayor Ashman.

On August 10, there's a mandatory training that must be completed to run in November.
